Arceus's Judgment: how to prepare for minute 30
At the 30-minute mark the chase turns invincible, accelerates, and sends a legendary after you every five seconds at double the previous health and damage. This is where runs actually end, and it is decided well before it starts.
What actually happens at minute 30
When the run reaches 30 minutes, Arceus's Judgment begins. The chase becomes invincible and accelerates, and a legendary is thrown at you every five seconds with double the previous health and damage. This is not a boss you fight and win — it is a clock that stops being survivable at a rate you can influence.
Decide your ending before minute 30. By the time the Judgment starts, the only variables left are your build quality and your positioning. Both are products of the 29 minutes before it.
The escalation math
Health and damage double per legendary, and they arrive every five seconds. That curve is the reason minute 30 feels like a wall: the first one is a boss fight you can probably win, and by the fourth or fifth your clear speed no longer keeps up. Doubling per spawn is why damage output and survival both stop mattering at exactly the same moment.
Which means the answer is not "get stronger". The answer is to decide how long you intend to survive before that point, and to make sure your collection and coin progress is already banked by then.
Three preparation checks
- Coin Amulet or not. If you are on a farming route, bank the coins before the Judgment rather than trying to squeeze one more wave out of it.
- Rift tickets. Tickets you want for the gacha have to be earned before minute 30. After it, the pace of fights makes deliberate portal runs unlikely.
- The item in your hand. Life Orb's health cost compounds when fights never end. An item built for sustained survival — Remains or Shell Bell — is often better here than a damage item.
None of these are exciting. They are the three decisions that turn a 29-minute run into a 35-minute one.
Playing well past 30
- Never stop moving, and never move in a straight line. The chase accelerates, so the straightest path is the one that kills you.
- Keep your best area coverage active. During the Judgment, a move that clears a full screen beats a move that hits harder in a line.
- Use Focus Band on a legendary, not on a regular. During the Judgment most of your damage arrives in named, telegraphed spawns.
- Bank greed. If a run is going well, the correct play is often to finish it deliberately rather than to test one more mechanic.
Using the Judgment as a goal
For most players, minute 30 is a genuine achievement gate rather than a routine milestone: the first time you see the Judgment start, you have outlasted the designed difficulty curve of the game. The next goal is not survival — it is efficiency: how much you banked by the time it started.
That is also why the build guides matter more than survival tips for experienced players. A minute-30 run is won by two moves at level 5 and a partner whose permanent upgrades are already in place, not by one perfect dodge.
Questions about this
What happens at minute 30?
Arceus's Judgment starts: the chase becomes invincible and accelerates, and a legendary arrives every five seconds with double the previous health and damage.
Can you win the minute-30 chase?
It is an escalation, not a boss. Health and damage double per spawn, so it eventually becomes unsurvivable — the goal is how long you extend it and how much you banked before it started.
Should I take a rift before minute 30?
If your build can win it. Rift legendaries always drop ×10 tickets, and after the Judgment starts you will not have the space to do it deliberately.
